The one I came for. 24mm at f/8, one frame, no filter.
Cropped square in camera — the pines were the whole picture.
Three frames stitched, handheld, and it still holds together.
Handheld at 1/60s. The wind made the second attempt useless.
About this post
We started up the ridge before four, with the headlamps off after the first hour because the moon was doing the work. The cloud sat below us the whole way and never once lifted, so the summit arrived as a surprise — a line of rock, then nothing but white on every side.
Ten frames from that morning. The light changed every few minutes, which is why the set runs from the blue hour to full sun; the last two are from the walk down, when the cloud finally broke and the valley showed itself.
Shot on a 24mm, mostly at f/8, handheld. No filters — the haze is the mountain's own.

That second frame, with the cloud still sitting in the valley — I have stood in almost exactly that spot and never got the light. Beautiful set.

The restraint in the edit is what makes this work. Ten frames and not one of them is filler.

Handheld at f/8 before sunrise is a bold choice. It paid off — the sharpness holds all the way into the corners.
